Everybody Dies But Me

Set in contemporary Russia, the film follows ninth-grade girls through a school year. It reflects the fashion, slang, and social pressures of modern Russian youth. The events unfold in an urban, present-day setting rather than a historical period.

Most of the action unfolds around a Russian secondary school, its corridors, bathrooms, and basement, as well as Katya's home and the surrounding neighborhood. The school setting acts as a pressure cooker where social hierarchies, dances, and punishments unfold. The home and neighborhood provide a backdrop for late-night plans, conflicts with parents, and the pull of peer influence.
