Eugene Onegin, a cynical young dandy from St. Petersburg, leaves the city for the country to seek the favor of his ailing uncle. While there he befriends the idealistic poet Vladimir Lensky, who introduces him to the two daughters of the local landowner, setting the stage for a clash of values and romance.
