Professor Ricardo Rossi, a Catholic moralist, discovers his wife Elisa in bed with another woman, whom he first thinks is a man. Enraged, he poisons Elisa, dumps her in a lake, and replaces her with a prostitute, Eva, and starts an affair with his niece Barbara. Elisa survives, allies with Eva, and Rossi murders them, sparking further bloodshed.
