Ennu Swantham Janakikutty

Janakikutty is a ninth grade student living in a crowded joint family in a Nair tharavadu. Her mother is busy with housework and her father is frequently absent for work in the town. Her sister and cousin ignore her, leaving Janaki with her elderly grandmother and the neighbor Bhaskaran as her few allies.

While collecting herbs with her grandmother, Janaki wanders into a restricted forest area that she is warned not to enter. The grandmother tells a local legend about Kunjathol who becomes a Yakshi after being murdered by her husband. She also recounts how Kunjathol drinks blood and haunts the area.

Janaki later encounters a beautiful young woman, Kunjathol, in the forest who introduces herself and promises friendship and protection. Janaki is terrified but Kunjathol reassures her that some Yakshis can be kind. A bond begins to form between the girl and the supernatural being.

From then on, Kunjathol becomes Janaki's secret friend and confidant. Janaki shares her life at home and her troubles with the Yakshi who offers support. Kunjathol hints she can help her manage the harsh relations around her.

Back home, Janaki's family notices strange behavior as she talks to herself and references Kunjathol as if she truly exists. They try several rituals and exorcisms to drive away what they fear is a haunting. The episodes confuse and worry the entire family.

When her cousins Sarojini and Bhaskaran potentially torment her, Kunjathol uses her powers to frighten them by throwing stones into their room at night. The family becomes convinced that a ghost is in the house. Janaki feels safer with Kunjathol by her side.

Sarojini's marriage is arranged to a wealthy man against her will, creating a new crisis for the family. Janaki seeks to help her cousin with Kunjathol's aid, but Kunjathol warns that each person must follow their own destiny. Still, she agrees to attend the wedding from afar.

At the wedding, Kunjathol is reminded of her own doomed marriage. Enraged and anguished, she transforms into a fierce vampiric form in front of Janaki. The sight terrifies Janaki and she faints.

After the haunting incident, Janaki is hospitalized. The family arranges medical care, and Bhaskaran stays by her side, bringing a sense of comfort. The hospital marks a shift from supernatural turmoil to a medical response.

During the hospitalization, Bhaskaran's care grows into a closeness that makes Janaki hopeful. She starts to think that he might be her destiny, in line with Kunjathol's supportive nature. She clings to the idea that love and fate might align.

Kunjathol visits Janaki one last time in the hospital and bids her goodbye, signaling the end of their friendship. Bhaskaran has begun to understand Janaki's feelings for him and offers quiet support.

With Kunjathol leaving, Bhaskaran becomes fully aware of Janaki's feelings and reciprocates his love. The tale ends on a note of romance and acceptance amid the lingering memory of the supernatural friendship.
