Kunjathol was a married woman who discovered her husband's infidelity. When she confronted him about his womanizing, he murdered her in a brutal turn. Since then, she roams the forest as a Yakshi, a spirit with a dark past, accompanied by Karineeli. The legend says she drinks blood and haunts the area, having killed men who encountered her during a festival.

After witnessing Bhaskaran with Sarojini as a couple, Janaki ran away in grief and sprained her leg during a fall. While injured in the restricted forest area, she heard a voice calling her name and saw Kunjathol, a beautiful young woman who introduced herself along with her companion Karineeli. Though terrified at first, Kunjathol reassured her that not all Yakshis are malevolent and offered friendship since Janaki had committed no wrong.

This encounter happens shortly after Janaki's grandmother warns her about the forbidden forest and tells the legend of the murdered woman.
