Set against the Algerian War, Elise, a young woman from Bordeaux, moves to Paris to work alongside her brother in an automobile factory. There she meets Arezki, an Algerian nationalist activist, and they fall in love. The film chronicles everyday labor conditions and the harsh police repression faced by Algerians, revealing the personal and political tensions of the era.
