A festive Danish comedy known for its catchy theme song—though one verse was censored. The penultimate lyric reads “there were 39 sailors and one girl, and that’s why the censors deleted the last verse.” In 1965 the story broke new ground by sending radio operator Else, from Else Boyes’s novel, aboard the merchant ship M/S Warrigal owned by Wilhelmine Jacobsen, sailing from Brønshøj to Bangkok and back, humorously upsetting traditional male seafaring customs.
