Morris Brown, a New York gambler more fluent in balancing his checkbook than his prayer book, travels back to Galicia for a family wedding, bringing his decidedly American daughter Mollie (Molly Picon). Mollie's lively antics dominate the story until she encounters a charismatic young yeshiva scholar who abandons his traditional path, embraces the secular world, and pursues her heart.
