Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight

The Companions—Tanis, Sturm, Caramon, Raistlin, Flint, and Tasslehoff—return to Solace after five years apart, only to find the village transformed by a religious order called the Seekers. Hobgoblin patrols now guard the streets and tensions rise at the Inn of the Last Home. Kitiara cannot attend, sending only a mysterious note about being kept busy by her new lord.

Outside Solace, Fewmaster Toede and his minions force the Companions to fight. They defeat Toede's guards and press on toward the Inn of the Last Home to regroup with their friends. The encounter reveals Solace's new militarized state.

During the confrontation, Riverwind and Goldmoon reveal the Blue Crystal Staff when Hederick is burned, and Goldmoon heals him, proving the staff's holy powers. The Seekers realize the staff is the artifact they have been seeking and pursue the Companions. The revelation marks Goldmoon's emergence as a claimant to clerical power.

As they flee Solace by boat across a nearby lake, Raistlin notes that the constellations representing the forces of good and evil are missing, signaling that the gods Paladine and Takhisis have come to Krynn. The Companions realize they are already entangled in a larger cosmic conflict. They press on in search of safety and answers.

The next day, Draconians overwhelm the group, forcing them to flee into the Darken Wood. In the haunted forest they encounter undead warriors who direct them toward a greater mission. The peril underscores that a larger war is underway.

Deep in the woods, the Forestmaster tasks the Companions with traveling to the ruined city of Xak Tsaroth to retrieve the Disks of Mishakal. The Disks are needed to restore faith in the True Gods and to rally their allies. The journey marks a shift from escape to a sanctioned pilgrimage against the Dragon Highlords' forces.

The companions fly on pegasi to the ruined city of Xak Tsaroth, where they meet gully dwarves who guide them to the hidden dragon Onyx. The journey tests their resolve as they press deeper into danger. The terrain and creatures they encounter foreshadow the trials ahead.

In Xak Tsaroth, Onyx the dragon is slain by the holy power of the Blue Crystal Staff. Goldmoon is consumed by the dragon's fire and presumed dead, but she is later found alive at the foot of a Mishakal statue, now bearing true clerical powers. The staff's power confirms Goldmoon's destiny as a healer and cleric.

The Companions depart Xak Tsaroth with the Disks of Mishakal. Bupu the gully dwarf entrusts Raistlin with an ancient spellbook that once belonged to Fistandantilus, a gift that will shape his magic. The Disks also symbolize the return of the True Gods' teachings to Krynn.

They return to Solace only to find it occupied again, and the Companions, along with Gilthanas, are captured and chained in a slave caravan bound for Pax Tharkas. The group is threatened by Verminaard's forces, highlighting the broader war looming over the land.

Gilthanas's brother Porthios frees them from captivity, and they escape Pax Tharkas. They travel toward Qualinesti with plans to incite a rebellion in Pax Tharkas and free the other slaves under Verminaard's control. The alliance between elves and guardians of the realm strengthens their resistance.

The Companions stage a daring assault on Pax Tharkas. Verminaard and his dragon are defeated; Takhisis turns away from Paladine to confront him, leaving Verminaard vulnerable. The fall of Verminaard marks a turning point in the war and the heroes' battle against the Queen of Darkness.

With the Disks of Mishakal read by Elistan, the True Gods' faith is rekindled in Krynn. Goldmoon and Riverwind seal their alliance with a marriage, a personal triumph that reinforces hope for the road ahead. The union closes a chapter of the journey while the quest continues.
