Throughout his fake exorcist career, Cheon's bell never rang because there were never any real ghosts, his performances were purely psychological tricks. When they arrive at Yoo-kyung's home in Goecheon, the bell unexpectedly rings, confirming that a real entity is haunting the house. This moment shatters Cheon's skepticism and forces him to confront the reality of supernatural forces he has denied.

Seolgyeong is a powerful sacred talisman capable of sealing away evil spirits permanently. The talisman exists in two halves, one that Beom-cheon already possesses and another hidden on Mount Yongwol. When both halves are united with the Chilseonggeom sword, they create chains that can trap and erase a powerful spirit like Beom-cheon. This makes it the only weapon strong enough to defeat the dark shaman who has killed numerous powerful shamans.

Beom-cheon wants Yoo-kyung's spiritual eyes because they allow her to see reversed spells and spirits, a rare ability that would make him nearly unstoppable. With her eyes, he could perceive and counter any spiritual attack, making it impossible for other shamans to defeat him. After learning that Yoo-kyung witnessed his spirit vessel being destroyed, Beom-cheon becomes determined to either capture her ability or eliminate her as a threat.

Cheon's grandfather was a powerful shaman who once attempted to seal Beom-cheon using the Seolgyeong talisman. During the ritual to save Cheon's missing younger brother, Beom-cheon interrupted and killed both the grandfather and the brother. This tragedy motivated Cheon to become a self-taught shaman so he could one day avenge his family and stop Beom-cheon. Their conflict spans generations, with Cheon finally having the chance to finish what his grandfather started.

Cheon's inherited spiritual talent hints at his family's shamanic history.

The Chilseonggeom sword is a sacred weapon that activates when its broken half awakens during a genuine spiritual threat. When the possessed sister attacks Cheon at Yoo-kyung's home, the sword's broken half suddenly activates, allowing Cheon to destroy the ghost. The sword works in conjunction with the Seolkyeong talisman, when both halves of the talisman are united with the restored sword, it can bind and erase powerful spirits like Beom-cheon.

Beom-cheon killed Cheon's grandfather and younger brother because they posed a threat to his immortality. Cheon's grandfather was attempting a powerful sealing ritual using the Seolgyeong talisman to save the missing brother. Beom-cheon interrupted this ritual, which would have successfully sealed him. By killing both, Beom-cheon not only stopped the sealing but also eliminated a shaman who was one of the few capable of defeating him.

When both halves of the Seolgyeong are reunited with the Chilseonggeom sword, they create magical chains capable of trapping a spirit as powerful as Beom-cheon. The united talisman releases sealing chains that bind the spirit, and when the sealing script is read in reverse, the spirit is completely erased from existence. This is the only method powerful enough to permanently destroy Beom-cheon after he has absorbed power from numerous other shamans.

Beom-cheon is defeated when Cheon retrieves the second half of the Seolgyeong from Mount Yongwol, uniting it with the sword. During the final confrontation, Cheon is overpowered and loses the weapon, but reinforcements arrive to distract Beom-cheon. This buys enough time for the sealing to proceed, the Seolgyeong's chains trap Beom-cheon's soul, and the sealing script is read in reverse, erasing his spirit forever.

Cheon became a fake exorcist because he denies the existence of ghosts despite having inherited spiritual talent from his shaman grandfather. After witnessing his grandfather's spiritual abilities fail to save his brother, Cheon rejected the supernatural and developed psychological tricks to stage convincing fake exorcisms for money. Working with his assistant In-bae, he solves client problems through manipulation rather than actual spiritual intervention, until encountering real evil forces forces him to confront what he has denied.

By burning a talisman tied to Beom-cheon while following these reversed spell markings, Cheon and Yoo-kyung can identify the direction toward Mount Yongwol where the remaining Seolgyeong half is hidden.

Yoo-kyung's younger sister becomes possessed because Beom-cheon's followers are attempting to get close to Yoo-kyung and her spiritual eyes. The possession is a direct attack on the household, meant to either lure out Yoo-kyung or use the sister as a vessel to reach her. The violent nature of the possession, which breaks the bell and activates the sacred sword, shows that Beom-cheon is personally invested in silencing anyone who witnessed his spirit vessel being destroyed.
