Dolly Dearest

Elliot Wade secures ownership of the Dolly Dearest factory in Mexico, setting the stage for a family move. The factory sits near an ancient Mayan tomb, hinting at a threatening history. This purchase draws the Wade family into a danger they do not yet understand.

An archaeologist opens the sarcophagus near the factory and unleashes the evil spirit of Sanzia, the devil child. The archaeologist dies in the process, and the demon's essence begins seeking a host. Sanzia finds a new vessel in the porcelain doll, Dolly Dearest.

To see their new home, the Wade family travels to Mexico and meets their realtor, Mr. Estrella, and housekeeper Camilla. They tour the neglected factory and nearby grounds, which unsettle Elliot with its unstable structure. Despite concerns, they prepare to settle into a life in a place steeped in danger.

Jessica discovers a shelf of well-preserved dolls and is drawn to one. Her father allows her to take Dolly Dearest, unaware of the cursed fate tethered to the toy. The doll's presence marks the beginning of Jessica's troubling behavior.

Jimmy finds the cave entrance near the factory and begs his father to avoid it. His father warns him never to go there, warning of danger and superstition. The cave's dark history foreshadows the harm the tomb's secrets will bring.

The next day, Marilyn receives a disturbing drawing and notices Jessica's violence increasing. Camilla believes the doll is controlling Jessica and tries to warn Marilyn, but is killed by the spirit. The death marks the first clear sign that the doll's influence is real and deadly.

That night, Jimmy sneaks into the factory and discovers the night watchman, Luis, dead. He flees as the danger closes in, realizing supernatural forces are at work. The family is now directly entwined with the dolls' malevolence.

Marilyn realizes Jessica is being controlled by the doll and witnesses a moment of possession where the spirit threatens the family. The doll asserts ownership over Jessica and intensifies the danger. Jessica's behavior remains normal around her father but erupts around her mother.

Marilyn talks with archaeologist Resnick, learning they are searching for Sanzia's remains inside the tomb. Resnick explains the devil child fed on warm blood and that the tribe killed it to save their people. Marilyn connects the haunting to Jessica and the cursed doll.

Back at the factory, the dolls disconnect the phones, isolating the family from outside help. Marilyn retrieves a shotgun and prepares to confront the threat, while Jimmy struggles to reach his Spanish-speaking father. The family becomes increasingly isolated as the danger closes in.

As Dolly tries to maintain control, she blocks Marilyn from taking Jessica and advances with a kitchen knife. Jimmy fires the shotgun, breaking the doll's hold on Jessica. The girl briefly regains control, but the threat remains imminent.

Resnick discovers the devil child's remains in the tomb—a body of an infant with a goat's head—and realizes the myth is real. He rushes to the factory to warn the family and help against the dolls. He helps rescue Elliot from the dolls' attack and joins the family against the haunting.

The family plants dynamite around the factory to destroy the dolls and the evil they symbolize. The factory explodes, trapping the dolls inside and releasing a final demonic scream that implies Sanzia is destroyed. The Wade family watches the blaze consume the ruin, finally free from the curse.
