Fass Black, a successful Black disc jockey in Los Angeles, runs his own nightclub where he insists on playing only the most authentic, dance‑floor‑ready tracks. When a powerful record label backed by the mob pressures him to spin their catalog, he repeatedly refuses, saying the music lacks the necessary groove, heightening the tension between his artistic integrity and the criminal forces.
