Set in a near‑future 1999 Germany where all purchases must be made with credit cards, rampant overspending leaves many in debt. A ruthless debt collector employed by the powerful central bank forcibly repossesses unpaid goods and forces a girl called Egon to work for him. Egon meets a kind young man named Mike, and they fall in love. Determined to rescue her, Mike teams up with his older friend, the debonair playboy Löffler, embarking on a dangerous quest to free Egon from the bank’s clutches.
