In Coimbatore, Vijay, a wealthy young man, meets Geethu at the railway station on his trip to Chennai to enroll in an engineering college. It’s love at first sight, and he envisions a future together. At the same college, Ajith is a fellow student, and their early exchanges are tense. Unbeknownst to Vijay, Geethu is Ajith’s sister, and when he musters the courage to declare his love, she keeps her distance.

The story pivots when Vijay saves Ajith from a gang of thugs, and the two men put their differences aside to become close friends. A later visit to Ajith’s home leads to his mother insulting Vijay, prompting Vijay to leave in frustration. Over time, Ajith’s mother comes to see Vijay’s good character and grows affectionate toward him, and Geethu begins to appreciate him while discovering that she loves him too.

Before Vijay and Geethu can share their feelings with their families, Ajith reveals a painful family secret: he has another sister who never spoke of her, having eloped with his former close friend on her wedding day. That act left Ajith and his mother heartbroken, and they disowned her, never speaking again. He views his former friend’s betrayal as a grave act of treachery.

Moved by this history, Vijay contemplates stepping back from the romance to avoid what he fears would be seen as betraying a dear friend. Geethu, however, is not ready to give up and pleads for him to accept her love. As her family arranges for her wedding, she ends up consuming poison and is rushed to the hospital. Vijay hurries to the hospital with Ajith, and the truth comes to light: Ajith remains proud of his friend’s loyalty and gives his blessing to Vijay and Geethu’s union.
