Dharmadurai

Pandiyamma overhears her sons planning to kill Dharmadurai and helps him escape. She urges him to start a new life far away from their abuse. Dharmadurai leaves the village for Madurai, unknowingly taking the chit-fund money with him.

The brothers realize Dharmadurai is gone and the chit-fund money is missing. They search for him across the village but eventually give up, unable to locate him.

In flashback, Dharmadurai is the first graduate from his village and pursues MBBS at Madurai Medical College. He forms a close-knit circle with Subhashini and Stella, who harbor feelings for him. They vow to stay in India after graduation but drift apart afterward.

Back in the present, Dharmadurai seeks out Stella's memory, only to learn she died in a car accident. Her absence casts a shadow over his hopes for reconciliation with the past.

Dharmadurai goes to the hospital where Subhashini works and learns she is married to a doctor in Hyderabad. He opens up about why he turned to alcohol after his college life and the tragedies he's endured.

After graduation, Dharmadurai returns to his village and establishes a medical clinic. He begins serving the needy and earns the trust of the local community.

Anbuselvi, a farm laborer, visits his clinic and agrees to marriage after his proposal. Paraman, her father, grants permission, and plans for the wedding are set.

Paraman refuses to pay a large dowry, but the demands trigger a tragedy as Anbuselvi commits suicide. Dharmadurai is consumed by rage and grief and confronts his brothers.

Pandiyamma stops Dharmadurai from lashing out; devastated, he closes his clinic and turns to alcohol.

Subhashini invites Dharmadurai to her apartment, helps him recover from alcoholism, and encourages him to rebuild his life. She listens to his story with empathy and offers him support. This marks the start of their emotional bond.

Subhashini shares her own heartbreak and her decision to divorce her husband. She confesses her long-standing love for Dharmadurai, which he reciprocates, and they decide to start a life together.

A blind Dr Kamaraj visits Dharmadurai and is inspired by his work, suggesting marriage. Dharmadurai and Subhashini decide to marry as a result.

Subhashini becomes pregnant with Dharmadurai's child; she encourages him to reconcile with his family and return to their village to share the news.

Dharmadurai returns to his village and learns the family had to leave their home after villagers uncovered embezzled funds. One brother strikes him with a spanner, but realises Dharmadurai has recovered the stolen money and feels remorse. Pandiyamma rushes him to the hospital, where a former college classmate treats him. While recuperating, Subhashini calls to bring him back because their unborn child awaits.
