Antoine Rivière, a distinguished psychoanalyst with a stellar reputation, is approached by a new client, Edouard Berg, who claims he has killed his wife. Rivière, suspecting Berg of compulsive lying, begins probing the confession, only to discover that he himself has been drawn into a cunning trap that leaves little hope of escape.
