Alan Masters, a violent businessman involved in crime, marries kind Diane and brutally abuses her. Sergeant John Reed, hindered by corrupt superiors, enlists Diane to gather evidence. When Masters discovers this and kills Diane, Reed must convict him while battling cops protecting him. Part I opens with Diane’s death, back to her torment and Reed’s plan; Part II follows the fight against intimidation.
