Rodya Raskalnikov (Patrick Dempsey) is an intellectual forced to abandon his university studies and survive in poverty in 19th‑century Russia. Convinced that extraordinary individuals such as Napoleon must be exempt from ordinary law to achieve greatness, he grapples with the moral implications of his radical philosophy.
