During the plant lockdown investigation, a worker enters the basement searching for the source of contamination. He detects a foul odor and dismisses an odd sound, but when he investigates further, the mutated creature hides and then ambushes him, reaching out to claw his face and kill him.

The creature's presence in the basement was foreshadowed by its earlier mutation in the waste barrels.

Warren sneaks into the school to rescue Chrissy and confronts the adult creature. He uses a laser from the physics laboratory to knock the monster down, then escapes with Chrissy while the creature is disabled. Mr. Paley arrives moments later as the school explodes, killing both himself and the creature.

After Warren uses the physics lab laser to disable the monster, Mr. Paley enters the building. The school then explodes, killing both Paley and the remaining creature. The explosion appears to be triggered by the unstable radioactive conditions in the building combined with the chaos of the confrontation.
