The motto “If you have no voice, scream; if you have no legs, run; if you have no hope, invent” sets Alegría, a jubilation. It examines the transfer of power from ancient monarchies to modern democracies and contrasts youth with age. Kings’ fools, minstrels, beggars, aristocrats, children and steadfast clowns embody timelessness amid social change.
