In the 1930s, Sidner’s mother Solveig dies in a bizarre bicycle accident with cows. Sidner, his sister and their father Aron move to Sunne to work in a hotel. Aron is haunted by his late wife’s ghost and clings to her memory. He starts writing to Tessa, a young girl in New Zealand, and dreams of rebuilding his life far away, hoping the new start can soothe his grief.
