Set in the Montana Mountains at the close of the 19th century, the Indian boy Tschetan is saved from execution by the shepherd Alaska. Alaska hires him as a deputy shepherd, demanding hard labor. When a powerful cattle baron threatens them, the pair unite against him and forge a lasting friendship.
