Promoted with taglines such as “It’s a riot! It’s the original! It flickers! It jumps! It’s silly,” Chase Me Charlie is an anthology that compiles excerpts from Chaplin’s Essanay shorts—The Tramp, Shanghaied, In the Park and The Bank. First released in 1918, it was reissued fourteen years later with a new musical score by Elias Breeskin and narration by Teddy Bergman, who later became known as Alan Reed.
