Camp Rock

Mitchie's family can't afford Camp Rock, but Connie is hired to cater, allowing Mitchie to attend at a discounted rate. Mitchie arrives at Camp Rock and feels the pressure of the camp's wealthy atmosphere. She resolves to keep her mother's job a secret to avoid stigma.

Mitchie meets Caitlyn Gellar, a fellow camper who wants to produce music. Caitlyn is friendly but skeptical of Mitchie's hidden background. They quickly bond over their shared love of music and dream of performing.

Shane, the spoiled leader of Connect 3, returns to Camp Rock to rehabilitate his image and takes a job as a dance instructor who must record a song with the Final Jam winner. He overhears Mitchie singing in a hall and becomes determined to find her.

Mitchie lies about her mother's position to join Tess's popular group and enjoys temporary acceptance. Tess Tyler extends an invitation to join her clique, while Caitlyn is disappointed by the insincerity of Mitchie's lie. The difference in social circles becomes a source of tension.

During lunch, Tess portrays Caitlyn as the aggressor, prompting a food fight. Brown Cesario punishes Caitlyn by making her work in the kitchen, isolating her from the other campers. Mitchie worries that Caitlyn could learn Mitchie's secret, so she stays quiet to protect her friend.

Shane shares a song with Mitchie that marks a stylistic departure from his Connect 3 work. Mitchie expresses that she likes the new song, even if it risks his record label and fan expectations. Their budding connection deepens even as Mitchie keeps her secret.

Caitlyn confronts Mitchie about her secret, and the two argue. They reconcile at Pajama Jam when Mitchie stands up to Tess during Caitlyn's performance, helping her friend shine.

Tess secretly follows Mitchie and learns Mitchie's secret. She publicly exposes the secret to campers, causing Shane to doubt Mitchie and end their friendship. Mitchie becomes ostracized as suspicion swirls around her.

On the eve of Final Jam, Tess frames Mitchie and Caitlyn for stealing her bracelet. Brown Cesario bans them from all camp activities until the end of Final Jam, isolating them from the competition and the others.

Final Jam is held with Connect 3 as judges. Peggy and Ella refuse to perform with Tess and instead join other campers; Tess stumbles during her number when TJ attends and takes a call, retreating backstage in tears. Peggy performs a solo as Final Jam's closing act. When Mitchie and Caitlyn flicker the spotlights and perform, Brown relents and allows them on stage, and Shane realizes Mitchie is the mysterious singer, leading to their reconciliation.

Backstage after the performances, Tess apologizes to Peggy and Ella. She also tells Brown that she staged the bracelet theft, revealing her manipulative scheme.

In the extended ending, Caitlyn invites Mitchie, Tess, Peggy, and Ella to the recording studio she built in her garage, signaling a future of collaborative making music. The group imagines a future where their different backgrounds come together to create songs.
