Niki and his friends live on Santiago’s outskirts. During Chile’s transition from dictatorship to democracy (1988‑1990) they shift from drug‑ and alcohol‑fueled nihilism to market‑driven crime, and Niki begins a romance with the “loca” Manuela. The film is praised for episodes, memorable characters, quotable dialogue and a blend of portraiture with surreal flourishes, making it a key Chilean work of the 1990s.
