The movie begins with Rod, an inexperienced hero, and Nathalie, a Victoria's Secret model, embarking on their journey and first date. Their interactions are awkward and robotic, establishing their characters and relationship. They are staying at a cheap motel, setting the scene for the upcoming chaos.

Rod, Nathalie, and other motel patrons, including Ramsey and Becky, are confronted by large, vicious eagles while at the motel. They defend themselves with guns and coat hangers, managing to escape into Ramsey's minivan. This marks the beginning of the relentless bird attacks.
