The popular coach of a junior hockey team, Simon Lindström, is found murdered, and the investigation leads Martin Beck to consider a possible connection to Lindström's controversial initiative: teaching ice skating to unaccompanied refugee children. This project has created resentment within the close-knit community. As Martin Beck, now in a senior role, searches for a replacement for the temporary group leader, Steinar Hovland, he grapples with questions of trust and the potential for hidden agendas within his team.
