Detective Martin Beck and his colleagues hunt a serial killer whose victims are women from a single school class scattered across Sweden. Beck suspects a long‑buried scandal is linked to the murders, but witnesses refuse to speak. The team races against time to catch the perpetrator before the final killing, with only one victim still alive.
