Barbie in ‘A Christmas Carol’

In Victorian London, Eden Starling rules the Gads Hill Theatre with vanity, ordering her staff to work on Christmas Day. She mocks any festive mood and dismisses holiday cheer as a distraction from business. The theater staff, including Freddy and the Beadnells, endure her tyranny as they dream of a proper Christmas.

That night Eden is visited by the ghost of her Aunt Marie, bound by chains for her misdeeds. Marie warns that Eden is following a self-centered path that could ruin her life. She foreshadows the three spirits who will attempt to steer her toward redemption.

The Spirit of Christmas Past takes Eden back to her childhood, where a strict Aunt Marie presides over every music lesson. Eden secretly sneaks out to celebrate Christmas with Catherine's family, tasting the warmth she is forbidden to have. The incident strengthens Marie's control and plants the belief that Christmas joy must be sacrificed for achievement.

From then on, Eden grows into a self-centered performer who values status over warmth. She distances herself from family and friends, believing ambition excuses any holiday cheer. The root of her Christmas hostility is established in the early years.

Back in the present, the Spirit of Christmas Present reveals the theatre's staff resenting Eden's rigid rules and constant scolding. The spirit shows Catherine visiting a local orphanage, gifting clothes and showing tenderness to Tammy, a crippled orphan who becomes a symbol of mercy. Eden's heart softens for a moment, but she remains anxious about how to fund the orphanage.

The Spirit of Christmas Future shows Eden firing her employees after they arrive late, with replacements failing to win over the audience. Eden's fame collapses and she loses her fortune. Catherine has become an accomplished fashion designer and has distanced herself from Christmas, confronting the bitter consequences when the orphanage Tammy loved has closed and Tammy is no longer there.

Catherine explains that after Eden fired her, she left the country to find work and eventually returned as a fashion designer. She is financially successful but disillusioned with Christmas, having adopted much of Eden's harsh attitude toward workers. She refuses to help Eden and throws her out of her store, underscoring the personal cost of Eden's choices.

Horrified, Eden pleads with the spirits for another chance to alter her fate. She wakes up in her own bed on Christmas morning, realizing the possibility of redemption exists. A sense of hope replaces her previous arrogance.

Eden goes to the theatre and, moved by the miracle, gives gifts to all her employees and allows them to take the day off. She invites Catherine to take her to the orphanage so Tammy can be cared for, and the spirits push the carriage to become a sleigh for the journey. The gesture renews the troupe's trust and sets a more generous course for Eden.

The orphans wave them goodbye as they depart for Catherine's family Christmas, a sign that their acts of kindness will endure. The unseen ghost of Aunt Marie appears, now free of her chains, watching Eden's transformed heart. The Christmas vision ends with a quiet sense of reconciliation.

Barbie and Kelly's perspective shifts as generosity takes hold; Kelly smiles with a new sense of holiday spirit. Nikki arrives to remind them they are running late for the ball, prompting them to hurry. They head out to the charity ball with renewed warmth for others.
