A docudrama exploring the culture of the Baltic peoples in the 13th century, before the arrival of Christianity. A Danish spy, Lars, infiltrates their tribal lands, participating in ancient religious ceremonies, experiencing violent raids, and celebrating the Summer Solstice. He is captured and becomes a slave to the Couronians, ultimately fighting alongside them against the crusaders. The film offers a glimpse into the lives and beliefs of Europe's last pagans and their world.
