Set in 1950 Cairo, Amin is a modest office worker sharing a modest home with his wife Zahira and their children, son Nabil and daughter Hoda. His friend Mabrouk persuades him to place his life savings into a promised‑to‑be‑lucrative venture, and Amin hurriedly agrees, neglecting to keep a receipt. Shortly thereafter, Amin dies; from the afterlife he watches the unfolding consequences of his decisions, reflecting on the fragility of trust and the suddenness of fate.
