In the film’s climax, Yohualli Coatl‑the fledgling “Bat‑warrior”‑finally confronts Hernán Cortés and his invading forces in the heart of Tenochtitlan. Using the bat‑shaped glider he has fashioned from the conquistador’s own schematics, Yohualli soars above the city, his makeshift wings scattering a swarm of bats that rally the Aztec defenders. From the sky he drops explosives onto the Spanish galleon that has begun bombarding the capital, halting its cannon fire and buying the city a precious window.
