In 1913, a young woman is raped by a priest, an ordeal that drives her to abandon the Church. By 1924 she has become the proprietor of a high‑end brothel and, amid the Cristero Uprising, finds herself reluctantly involved on both sides as foreign‑born clergy are expelled from Mexico.
