Set in Normandy, France, in 1976, Pouplard is an unemployed heating engineer who works in his girlfriend Nadia’s butcher shop. After two tumultuous years of passionate romance, he decides to marry her, leaving his wife and daughter behind. The story tracks his struggle with jealousy and Nadia’s overwhelming allure as he confronts this pivotal moment in his life.
