Now a respected instructor of temporal observers, Dominick has avoided the past for years, having accepted that he will never reunite with Jane, the lover he abandoned in 1980, nor see his son. His routine is shattered when his superior gives him a new assignment: to investigate the disappearance of his student Pyrus Bonnington, who vanished in 1982, forcing Dominick to confront the past.
