At a Swiss Alpine resort just after the war, an army officer and the well‑to‑do Humpy Miller both court Mary, the landlord’s daughter. After they catch chicken‑pox, Miss Cartwright, a fellow guest and Humpy’s former nanny, looks after them. The Englishmen then team up to resist her control and to fend off a heavy‑set Greek also after Mary.
