In Colombia, twelve-year-old Alix embarks on a journey under the guise of Conejo, a recruiter of children for war, and seemingly falls into a surreal world. The story blends a dark and painful journey with the magical realism of the Colombian jungle, incorporating mythological figures and the region's rich wildlife. Alix encounters talking animals, a moon that changes color, and a benevolent Llorona. As she navigates this inverted reality, she strives for happiness with Conejo's support. He grapples with unexpected feelings for her, and despite needing her to secure his freedom—his girlfriend is pregnant—he feels compelled to protect them both, ultimately making a significant sacrifice to secure a hopeful future for them.
