After the Sun

FBI Agent Stanley P. Lloyd is assigned to transport the second of three famous diamonds, known as the Napoleon diamonds, on a convoy. During the journey, their vehicle's windshield is approached by a squeegee man who is later revealed to be working with master thief Max Burdett. Lloyd tips the man, but this allows Max to scan the vehicle's security, planning his theft.

Max Burdett, with the help of Lola disguised as the squeegee man’s girlfriend, takes control of Lloyd’s vehicle at the warehouse. Max is shot by Lloyd during the theft, who is later gassed and passed out. Lola discreetly swaps the diamond with a dollar bill and escapes with Max, heading to Paradise Island in The Bahamas.

After the heist, Max and Lola fly to Paradise Island to enjoy their newly acquired wealth and freedom. Meanwhile, Lloyd survives his injuries, setting the stage for a future pursuit. Max’s survival marks the continuation of his criminal activities, now in a tropical paradise.

Six months later, Lloyd reappears and accuses Max Burdett of planning to steal the third Napoleon diamond from a cruise ship docking on the island. Max denies his involvement, but Lloyd’s suspicion prompts him to investigate further, reigniting their rivalry.

In an effort to deepen his investigation, Lloyd is introduced to the relaxed Caribbean lifestyle. Max, sensing an opportunity, befriends Lloyd and pays for the luxurious bridge suite, attempting to manipulate him while hiding his plans to steal the third diamond.

Max pretends to cooperate with the powerful tycoon Henri Mooré, who is interested in the diamond and offers him island benefits. Max creates a fake plan for the theft, keeping ahead of Lloyd and maintaining his cover while plotting his own scheme to steal the diamond.

Lola becomes suspicious of Max after he breaks his promise to spend their sunset together and discovers his lies about their vows. She kicks Max out, causing tension, while Max is forced to bunk with Lloyd, sharing personal reflections and growing closer amidst their shared predicament.

Max uses a dive trip as a diversion to steal the third diamond, coinciding with Mooré's man attempting a similar heist. The fake plan fails, leading to chaos, and Lloyd, Sophie, and Lola team up to stop Max and recover the diamond, resulting in a confrontation at the scene.

Lola leaves Max after he shoots Mooré dead during his attempt to take the diamond. Max reflects on his mistakes, writes his vows, and manages to rekindle his relationship with Lola at the airport, proposing to her with his first diamond as a token of love.

Lloyd reveals he orchestrated the entire setup, allowing Max to steal the diamond while he recovered it later. Max accepts that Lloyd has won this round but is content to live with Lola, watching sunsets and enjoying their life together in paradise.

While relaxing on the beach, Max uses a remote control to mess with Lloyd's car as it arrives at the airport, highlighting their ongoing playful rivalry. Lola asks if this will be the 'last time,' and Max agrees, hinting at future misadventures.
