What Happens in Aan Devathai: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Aan Devathai (2018) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Elango, Samuthirakani, falls in love with Jessy, Ramya Pandian, and the two marry, beginning a life that feels quiet and self-contained, with no parents or close relatives to lean on.

Elango works as a medical sales representative, while Jessy secures a software job, and life seems steady and smooth. They are blessed with twins – Agaran (Kavin) and Aathira Monekha Siva. Jessy is driven by ambition and a desire to climb higher, whereas Elango believes that family must come first and longs for more time with their children.

As Jessy earns more, she dreams of a more upscale lifestyle. Against Elango's advice, she books an apartment under construction and buys a BMW, chasing a image of success while taking on larger bank loans. Roy, Jessy’s boss, adds tension as he keeps an eye on her rising position.

Arguments strain the marriage, and Elango eventually leaves the house after Jessy resents his choice to stay home and manage the children. He finds shelter with Bullet Thatha, a kindhearted man who checks in on Agaran. He also takes up a job as a waiter, and his cooking skills soon earn him a promotion to chef at a local restaurant.

Belita, Suja Varunee, a colleague who flaunts a lavish lifestyle, ends up taking her own life after being humiliated by bank goons over unpaid loans. Jessy begins to see the hazards of debt and the pressure it creates. Roy’s predatory approach toward Jessy leads to a confrontation that costs her the job, leaving her unable to keep up with EMIs. Goons arrive at their home, reminding them of the mounting debt.

Elango steps in, asking for more time and, with the restaurant owner’s help, arranging a way to settle some money. This crisis becomes a turning point for Jessy, who starts to understand Elango’s patience and sacrifice. The couple patches things up, and Elango resumes work, choosing a modest, joyful life over prestige. They eventually sell the posh apartment and return to their earlier place, renting it as they rebuild their life on steadier ground.
