During a family trip to Universal Studios in Hollywood, two Italian tourists inadvertently board a functioning time machine and become stranded in the past. Professor Mortimer mounts a daring rescue, taking them through a series of distinct periods of ancient Italy, from its earliest days to the height of the Roman Empire.
