Arūnas, an 18‑year‑old recent high‑school graduate from a Baltic port town, finds himself in the grip of a personal crisis. He feels suffocated by the monotony of school life, while at home his father drones on about his past as an anti‑fascist guerrilla fighter. Meanwhile, his mother abruptly abandons the family to pursue her long‑shelved dream of becoming an artist, taking his younger brother Saulius with her. Arūnas’ father, still living with a grenade fragment lodged in his spine from the war, is forced into the hospital, and Arūnas must also contend with the sense of betrayal from his friends.
