A 5‑year‑old boy with divorced parents spends his days alone watching TV; his mother works full‑time and his father visits only occasionally. His biggest wish is a puppy, so he and three friends quickly get one. Though the children are eager to care for the dog, uncaring relatives and neighbours send the puppy to a village, leaving the boy alone again.
