Arthur Lipsett’s short film is an abstract collage that combines discarded footage he rescued from the National Film Board’s editing rooms—where he worked as an animator—with his own 16 mm shots filmed on the streets of Montreal. The work comments on a machine‑dominated society and is often cited as influencing George Lucas’s creation of Star Wars and the idea of “The Force.”
