A band of convicts is offered a chance at freedom if they agree to protect a small town in feudal Japan. They are tasked with defending a fortress against advancing government troops, battling with the fierce determination of men who have everything to lose. However, when the officials who initially recruited them betray their agreement, the warriors discover they've been manipulated and must fight for their survival.
