Set in 1960s Tokyo, the story follows three children—Shin, Itsuki, and Tae—who form a unique bond with the help of yo-kai. Shin, living a simple life, experiences deep sadness after the loss of his mother. Itsuki, who has also suffered a personal tragedy, reaches out to Shin, and together with Tae, who has the ability to see yo-kai, they forge a heartwarming friendship. Their group expands with the assistance of Shin’s guardian spirit Suu-san and other new yo-kai, helping them rediscover the meaning of family. However, this newfound happiness is threatened by a mysterious incident and a shocking truth.
