Three women enlist at the Women’s Army Corps training center in Fort Des Moines for different reasons: Mary Savage, a war widow, aims to become an officer; farm‑girl Stormy Hart seeks a role in motor transport; and Lorna Travis hopes to win the respect of her chauvinistic father, Major General Travis. Their rigorous training prepares them to contribute to the upcoming war games and demonstrate the WACS’s value to the war effort.
