At the end of “Witch,” the cycle of darkness and curse seems to be reaching its conclusion. After Johanna is hanged, the demon that had latched onto her and Twyla continues to seek a new vessel — this time targeting a girl named Rose, who receives dolls made by Twyla and Annabelle as a symbolic trap. William and Twyla realize that destroying the cursed book is impossible because it holds the key to locking away the demonic force forever. During a final confrontation, William’s older self sacrifices himself to save Twyla, stabbing Marshal—who had been poised to sacrifice Twyla—and leaving behind a cryptic warning: “Don’t save her.” This suggests that Twyla’s death is essential to finally cleanse the demon. In their desperate attempt to break free, William and Twyla drink a special elixir, traveling through time to try again. However, William’s mistake of burning a page from the book without understanding the full warning risks repeating the cycle of tragedy, just as it did 36 years earlier.

In the closing scenes, it appears that Twyla has ultimately been freed. A present-day woman in a library reads from the same cursed book, and just as she reads the spell, a girl—who seems to be Twyla—miraculously comes back to life after being shot. This ending hints that Twyla might finally have escaped the evil that haunted her for so long, potentially being reborn or saved through this act of breaking the curse. While the past mistakes show how perilous and cyclical the struggle has been, the final moments offer a glimmer of hope—that Twyla might finally be free from the dark force, ending the nightmare once and for all.
