Sattu moves to Kota to pursue coaching for the engineering entrance exam and settles into a rented life there. He studies hard and, when results arrive, he earns a rank of 287, bringing pride to his family. The success sets him on a path where opportunities and temptations begin to emerge.

After the results, Sattu returns to Jaunpur to live with his parents, elder sister Nupur, and their grandmother. The family dynamics provide a grounding backdrop as he confronts growing expectations. The homecoming contrasts with the competitive pressure of his earlier Kota experience.

To celebrate, Sattu and his friends go to a cinema. Politicians insist they vacate seats for a private show, and when Rakesh Singh refuses, a clash ensues. Both Rakesh and Sattu end up arrested, pulled into a web of scandal.

Rakesh is released on bail and visits Sattu at his home to propose a business opportunity. He asks Sattu to stay in touch about potential ventures and promises lucrative returns. This meeting marks the start of their unscrupulous collaboration.

The next day, in a restaurant, Rakesh convinces Sattu to ghostwrite application essays for college entrants for a fee of around ₹50,000 per paper. Sattu agrees to take on the work, quickly cashing in on the easy money. What begins as a clever scheme soon pulls him into a lifestyle of excess.

With money rolling in, Sattu spends it extravagantly and slides into drug use and casual sex. He becomes more reckless as the lifestyle overshadows his academic future. The once-promising student starts a dangerous downward spiral.

Sattu enters college but is expelled and arrested for drug use. His forged degree soon comes under scrutiny, threatening his entire future. Rakesh bails him out again and plans how to keep him afloat.

Rakesh bails Sattu out again, helps him detox, and provides a forged college degree along with instructions to find work in Qatar. The forgery gives him a painful shot at a return to employment, albeit under deception. This deception sows seeds for later exposure and tragedy.

Years after the incident, Rakesh meets Sattu's sister Nupur and they develop a cordial relationship. The interactions hint at a complex past and hidden tensions in Sattu's family. Rakesh's involvement in the essay business continues to influence events.

Nupur tells Rakesh that she wants to do an MBA to advance at work. In a bid to help, Rakesh has a student write a thesis for her in order to forge her credentials. The plan demonstrates how far the deception has spread.

Rakesh arranges to meet Nupur in her office parking lot to discuss the plan and asks her to participate in the forged thesis. He discloses his intent to forge her thesis, pulling in a student to complete the work. The scene marks the escalation of the operation and foreshadows the police sting.

During the parking-lot sting, a police inspector arrests Rakesh for forgery. It is revealed that Sattu killed himself after losing his job when the forged degree was exposed. The twist confirms that Nupur had been working with the police, and Rakesh realizes her complicity.
