The ending of "What You Wish For" reveals Ryan's grim fate in the deadly world of the agency. After slipping a note to Detective Ruiz, Ryan confesses that the meat served at the dinner is actually Jose’s, revealing the horrifying truth that the entire operation is run by an international organization that kills and cooks people for wealthy clients. Ruiz prepares to arrest the criminals, but Ryan’s plan is foiled when Maurice, sensing danger, disposes of Ruiz with a chainsaw. Despite Ryan’s efforts to expose the agency, all the guests leave satisfied, having enjoyed a perfectly prepared dinner, which signifies that the sinister operation continues undetected.
As Ryan slips further into the role of Jack and continues to serve these deadly clients, he realizes there’s no way out of this brutal cycle. The film suggests that the agency’s grip is unbreakable—greed and violence keep their operation alive, and anyone who tries to escape is eliminated. Jack’s suicide underscores the brutal reality that trying to leave means death, and the myth that one can escape is shattered.
