A family friend’s warning about a man asking about the dog prompts Travis to flee with his mother and the dog to a cabin in the woods. Johnson captures Tracey as a hostage, and a brutal fight ensues in which Travis is stabbed and the dog destroys Johnson, killing him. The clan survives as they retreat, leaving the cabin and the now-burning farmhouse behind.

The final confrontation with the OXCOM in the woods ends with Travis killing the beast when it attacks him and the dog. The survivors escape in a beat-up truck as the farmhouse burns down elsewhere, signaling a fragile escape from immediate danger. They regroup and drive away, facing an uncertain future.
