Walled In

A little girl named Julie wakes in a hidden room as cement begins to flood in from all sides. She screams for her father while the walls rise, and the room slowly fills until she is buried alive.

Fifteen years later, Samantha Walczak graduates as an engineer. At her graduation party, her father offers her a job supervising the demolition of the Malestrazza Building, with a chance to become his partner if she succeeds.

Sam travels to the remote Malestrazza Building and is greeted by Mary, the caretaker. She is warned to stay off the eighth floor and the roof, which are deemed too dangerous.

While researching, Sam learns the building's dark history: sixteen people were entombed in the walls. Jimmy explains that his own father was one of the victims and that the crime was blamed on a factory worker.

Jimmy escorts Sam to the eighth floor, where the atmosphere grows tense. When the lights fail, Sam injures her leg, and Jimmy tends to the wound, crossing a line as he flirts with her, while Sam begins having nightmares about being sealed inside the walls.

Sam's boyfriend arrives at the site, triggering Jimmy's jealousy. Exploring the floor, Sam discovers a secret passage that would let someone spy on the apartments, and she realizes Jimmy has been watching her.

The couple's intimate moment draws to a halt when Jimmy watches from behind the walls. The next morning they find Jimmy's dog butchered, and they decide to leave the building.

Jimmy hands Sam a copy of architect Joseph Malestrazza's journal. From it she learns there must be a large, open space at the building's center, prompting them to search for an opening on the roof.

They locate a massive shaft in the center and decide to descend. Sam's boyfriend lowers her into the shaft, but he is shot and killed, and Sam falls to the bottom.

Sam awakens at the shaft bottom to find Malestrazza alive and trapped with her. He explains that Jimmy is keeping her there until she accepts him, and reveals that Malestrazza orchestrated murders as a form of ritual sacrifice.

A cassette arrives from Jimmy demanding a dance between Sam and Malestrazza. They reluctantly dance; when Jimmy orders a kiss, Malestrazza is forced to kiss Sam until Jimmy interrupts, warning him not to touch her again.

Sam discovers a way to escape through a wall that leads to the garbage area. She fakes an injury to get medicine, then mixes a plan to blow through the wall, but the attempt fails and Jimmy grows furious.

Mary confronts Jimmy and realizes Sam is in the hole with Malestrazza. Rather than risk arrest, she decides to keep them both trapped, ensuring they can't reveal the truth.

Sam and Malestrazza confront their fates as he taunts her; Sam ultimately kills him as the tomb begins to fill with cement. She clings to the wall, hoping someone will rescue her.

The demolition team arrives and Sam's father halts the countdown. Jimmy, realizing the truth, jumps from the roof and dies; Sam is rescued and Mary is arrested. Sam reflects on Malestrazza's legacy and the buildings he left behind.
